Good Eats at Gran Gusto

hiddenboston | May 7, 2008 07:51 PM

Went to Gran Gusto on Sherman Street in Cambridge this evening. It was pretty close to a perfect dining experience--great atmosphere, terrific waiter, good wine, and outstanding wood-fired pizza. I liked it so much that I'm hoping to go back later this week (I rarely go to the same place twice in the same week these days).

The waiter (perhaps he was also the manager?) told me that the wood-fired oven was brought over from Naples, and that many of the entrees in addition to the pizza are cooked in the oven.

A very impressive place indeed, and you would never guess that this is the case if you were just driving by and didn't know about it. From the outside, it looks like it might be your basic lunch spot for office workers during the workday. Nothing could be further from the truth...
