I'm looking for some ideas on the good places to eat in Salt Lake City. I'm compiling a collection of restaurant reviews and experiences in the area that will be compiled as an AvantGo channel. The idea is to find the really good stuff going on here. Any great places? How about Chinese food (Ogden has one of the highest number of chinese restaurants per-capita in the nation, what's the best)? Italian? Other-worldy and transcendant places to eat? I appreciate your input.
I realize of course in order to get some you gotta give some so here I'm putting some of my favorite places to eat by catagory:
David's Kitchen: 3300 S State St (801) 463-0888 - Located behind Gepeto's Bar across the street from the movie theatre. So far the best Lo Mein, General Chu's Chicken and the BEST Potsticker's I've been able to find.
Michaelangelo's:2156 S Highland Dr (801) 466-0961 - Authentic, fresh and different.
Al Forno's: 239 S 500 E (801) 359-6040 - Under new management as of September 2000, the atmosphere has improved, the waitstaff is happier and the food is even better, try the Pollo Aurora.
Fresco's Italian Cafe: 1513 South 1500 East (801) 486-3748 - I almost hate telling people about Fresco's because I don't want it to become too popular (although it already is) quiet, quaint atmosphere. Nesteled away behind The King's English bookstore. Great Rizoto.
FreeWheeler Pizza: 1624 S 1100 E (801) 486-3748 - Anyone who knows what they're talking about at Westminster College will tell you that Freewheeler Pizza is the best gourmet pizza in Salt Lake City. Plus they deliver 24 hours on the weekends.
Bangkok Thai: 1400 South Foothill Drive (801) 582-8424 - Of course, there's no better place for Thai in Salt Lake, but if there is please let me know because it has to be incredible.
The Bombay House: 1615 S Foothill Dr (801) 581-0222 - Need a curry or a vindaloo, Bombay house has the cleanest, fastest and most professional atmosphere in the State. First time eating Indian? Remember an order of (Garlic) Naan bread.
Rasputin's International Cuisine: 2148 S 900 E (801) 486-4952 - Who knew? This is an incredible place, I don't think I can say anything else that wouldn't require me to learn Russian first.
Soup (and Sandwiches)
Soup Kitchen: Various locations around the city - I love creamy tomato soup and a nice Malibu Chicken sandwhich from here. Makes me soooo happy.
These are the restaurants that you're not going to find listed to prominantly. Utah is small so the good stuff that we have tends to get a lot of press. Please throw me some input, I appreciate you're help. Let me know if you have any differing opinions on these restaurants.
