Good coffee beans in Tucson?

Peter Tillman | Dec 20, 2002 04:18 PM

For 25 years we relied on Coffee Etc. for coffee beans to go. They had their ups & downs, but went out of business this fall. We like dark French roast.

Since then, we've tried Coffee Xchange, Campbell near Grant, which was Godawful (stale, way-underroasted 'French roast'; and Ragin' Sage, nearby on Campbell, which is OK but...(French-roasted Sumatran).

Any suggestions?

We've gotten spoiled by Ohori's in Santa Fe, which has pretty much the definition of good French roast coffee -- and cheaper than either of the above Tucson dealers, too boot. Plus -- if you buy a pound or more, they give you a free cup to go. Good coffee, nice people. Two locations: OST at Peralta, next to Kahne's; and off St . Michael's near Cordova (just N of Walgreen's).

TIA & best for hols -- Pete Tillman
