Just an FYI on two really great places in the area
-For really good but reasonably priced Indian food, go to Woodlands Restaurant (intersection of Maynard and High House Rd in Cary). Located in a strip mall and decor is almost non-existent, BUT they have great, fresh and well-seasoned South Indian food which happens to be all vegetarian. Try and catch their lunch buffet (even runs on the weekend). The buffet costs around $8 but it includes dosas made to order, in addition to the multiple entrees/breads/desserts. The servers are also very nice, friendly people!
-For cheap authentic Chinese food, go to the Grand Asia Market (in the South Hills Plaza off Buck Jones Road in Raleigh). Head towards the BACK of the grocery store and stop at the stand with the hanging ducks/meats. There you can get the aforementioned meat chunks, but next to that they also have a stand that will sell you 3 dishes with rice for $3.95! The portions are huge and the stuff is well-made and includes some interesting things like marinated cold bean sheets. Also can get noodle soups, Bubble Teas and Vietnamese style subs there for cheap. Ambience and decor don't really exist, since your dining experience involves sitting at tables while grocery shoppers walk by you, but hey it's cheap and a good place to people-watch.
