Regular customers of Cafe Lucy will have noticed the statement on last week's menu that the restaurant has been sold and will transition to the new owners in early October. Last Saturday's party and passionate poetry reading was not only a celebration of wine and food, the autumnal equinox and full moon, but also a farewell to the tiny bistro that has nourished us so well. Theresa Whitehill unveiled a new poem for this passing which described a cafe' as an "intersection of stars".
We had a chance to meet Marc and Kimberly, the young couple, who will take over the restaurant under a new name. They plan to reopen soon with a minimum of remodeling for lunch and dinner 6 days a week. They have a lot of new ideas for the restaurant, yet hope to keep the home-like atmosphere which has made this a special place.
If you've not had a chance to sample Lucy Gore's heartfelt cooking yet, get yourself to downtown Napa before she departs ca. Oct. 11.
