Gonzo-Good; Patio-Great

xavier | Aug 17, 200201:10 PM

Very happy with Gonzo and Patio Dining. Gonzo just opened, is owned by the same guy that owns Scoppa on 28th and Madison, which has fabulous paninni. Gonzo is on 13th between 6th and 7th Ave., and serves plesant Italian. My wife had brick chicken that was totally tasty and crispy. Two entrees, one drink, no apps or dessert was about $50 before tip.

But Patio on 2nd ave and 2nd St. was really great last night. The menu changes frequently, according to what really fresh stuff is available that week. I had a wonderfully-made halibut and tomato-bread salad that still has me salivating because tomatoes are really in season this month. My friend had some sort of pasta made with fresh corn that was wonderful. We sampled the watermelon gaspacho, but it wasn't very interesting.
Two entrees, two apps, two glasses of wine: $68 before tip.
