Golden Saigon in the Portola SF

srr | Dec 7, 201503:08 PM

This place used to be called Cali Pho Nia, but it changed hands and names about a year ago. We live near by and stop in occasionally. It's become much more often, recently, due to their Vietnamese sandwiches. Their pho is good. Not worth a drive across the city or anything, but great if you're in the neighborhood. But the sandwiches, wow! Soft bread with just the right amount of crisp crackly crust. Enough mayo, but not too much. Good amount of smokey meat. The grilled pork is particularly good. Their jalapeños are always super hot. Not those weird ones with no heat. And the women who work there are really really nice. We stopped going when it was Cali Pho Nia because the service was downright hostile. I've had Banh mi at all the places on this side of the city: Mission Noodle House(Excelsior), TY sandwich(Excelsior), Saigon BBQ(Portola). Golden Saigon's are the best.

Mission Noodle House,
Saigon BBQ
