Golden Pacific Market is open on N. B'way!

Quick note: we discovered last night that the new Golden Pacific Market has just opened and so we went in for a “test shop.” Bright, immaculate store, wide aisles, well-lighted, and of a nice size. (For what it’s worth, they have virtually nothing in the way of parking out front. Actually, they have two or three spots, but you might as well just park alongside the store on Broadway.) We didn’t spend too long in the store, but they have a very nice selection of pan-Asian goods, focusing on Chinese but with a strong Vietnamese and even good Japanese showing—plus lots of items from Malaysia and elsewhere as well. A large frozen and a large refrigerated section and a nice selection of fresh whole fish and fresh produce, too. (Whole tilapia for only 99 cents/pound or $1.97 if you wanted them to prepare it for you.) One aisle even caters to bulks items and cookware. Prices struck us as very reasonable. The people were very friendly and helpful. If you’re in the ‘hood, stop by. And keep your fingers crossed that business is good enough for both Golden Pacific and our friendly family at Thai Grocery down the street. We’d love to see them both prosper!
