Gold Post and Chesterfield's in Hattiesburg

Sara | Dec 22, 2003 08:40 PM

The last two times we drove to New Orleans (from Altanta) we've stopped in Hattiesburg to have lunch. The first time we ate at Chesterfield's. The food was surprisingly good. My fiance had the roast beef smothered in crawfish etoufee (yes, he napped in the car after that)and we've decided that as good as it was, it can be classified as a "heart attack waiting to happen".
This last time on the way home we stopped at the Gold Post.. and we loved it! Those poboys are great! He had the oyster and I had the catfish. The oysters on his sandwich were HUGE and fried just right. My catfish was flaky and not at all greasy and they were both dressed just right. I'm sure if you live in Hattiesburg, you already know all this, but if you are driving through, give 'em try!
Happy Holidays! Eat Merrily!
