I follow a strict gluten-free diet and am also very allergic to pine nuts. I will be traveling to the Piedmont region for the first time in one week (Turin and then to La Morra for 2 nights). I am asking specifically about the area around La Morra (I have traveled to various cities in Italy and European countries without problems).
Are pine nuts used in Piedmont cuisine? In any particular dishes? Any recommendations for traditional Piedmont dishes that are naturally wheat-free. I was planning to use this board for restaurant recommendations and to communicate my needs when I arrive (my husband does speak Italian). I would like any feed-back from those with diet restrictions who have dined in this region and from those who are familiar with the area restaurants who might have a sense of how friendly (or not) particular restaurants might be towards those with diet restrictions. Given our itinerary and our location, we are considering Osteria Veglio and La Torre, probably for dinner. We might want to be more spontaneous for lunch, considering that this is our first time to the region. I will start a new post for feed-back regarding itinerary.
