Give Moon Doggies in Port Royal, SC a try

While visiting Beaufort, Port Royal, St. Helena's Island in South Carolina during spring break last month we ate at a great little place in adorable downtown Port Royal. It's called Moon Doggies Deli Cafe. One of their menu specialties is - ready for this - pickle chips. Sounds gross, I know, but we had to try them and GUESS WHAT, they're really, really good. I guess anything you dredge in flour and fry is bound to be good but these little yummies really surprised me. All four of us got something different off the menu and there wasn't a flop in the group, including dessert - peanut butter pie that is rich and southern as can be.

Give it a whirl if you're in the area.

We also went to a little ice cream shop/cafe in downtown Beaufort that was really good with very friendly people. They make this special hot dog with sweet onion relish and topped with fried onions. Quite good, but I can't remember the name. Sorry.
