Gingersnap Greatness

rworange | Aug 1, 200501:16 AM

I remember someone asking about gingersnaps on the board a while back, so just a heads up that Lola's on Solano Avenue made some gingersnaps today that, to me, define the perfect gingersnap.

A hard cookie (a requirement to me), it is buttery and has a perfect balance of molasses, spice and hot bite of ginger. Goood.

Also a reminder of those stellar summer fruit desserts. The blueberry cake was mainly fresh blueberries with a buttery / lemony crust dusted with powdered sugar.

Ok, so I blew my diet this week. THIS is my last Lola's post. But ... there IS a gingersnap lover on the board and I thought I'd pass this along. Call first though. The selection of baked goods changes daily.

Lola's is located in Berkeley on Solano Avenue, next to Barneys and the recently sold Solano Cellars (another post).
