The Gingerman in Greenwich

Just a brief note to say we (5 women using a book club as an excuse to go out) had a positive dining experience at The Gingerman last night. The location on Greenwich Avenue used to house the overpriced and underpleasant Greenwich Steakhouse (though was partial to the manager David J.) and before that 64. Now the setting has been divided into two restaurants - an upscale looking italian restaurant on the 2nd floor - and The Gingerman on street level. Started with drinks at the bar - nice long oak bar with plenty of room with additional couch seatings conducive to relaxing and talking. Sal quite happily served us! We ate in the front room at a spacious rustic pine table with ample space and perfect acoustics. Had the tilapia off the specials menu - as did 2 others. The hot pastrami sandwich with the sweet potato fries was also a hit. Service was perfect - bill was not a surprise - overall night was a hit - we even liked the book!
