I finally got around to buying a tin of Ginger Altoids from Trader Joes.
They're nothing more than sugary, hot, fake-cinnamon-with-a-hint-of-what-might-be-ginger candies
A much better ginger mint are St. Claire's Organic Ginger Snaps! which I bought at the co-op in Sacramento and have spied at various other natural food stores. They're small speckled tablets that taste like sweetened, rooty, crystalized ginger.
Also, compare the ingredients:
Altoids -- Sugar, gum arabic, natural flavor, gelatin, corn syrup.
St. Claire's -- Organic molasses granules, organic evaporated cane juice, ginger root powder, ginger oleoresin. Contains no artificial coloring, flavoring, or animal by-products. GMO Free.
Check 'em out.
