Gilbert's El Indio for Mexican food

Jim Duffy | Feb 16, 200502:55 PM

I'm not the greatest judge of Mexican food but I'm getting better. NB: however that I am the reigning expert at Chicago food on this board without a doubt. I know pizza, hot dogs, polish, and beef like no other. But I digress...

I've been going to a place on Pico called Gilbert's El Indio and enjoying it. Good food, big portions. I'm a sucker for carnitas and they've got some pretty good carnitas here.

Just a warning. This place loves their locals/regulars. They can be a little rough on you if you're a stranger but go back a few times and they'll treat you like a king.

Enjoy and here's the address: 2526 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica
