I have never had anything remotely close to real, heavy, dark, seeded German bread on this side of the drink. I mean nothing close. Have had reasonable croissants, baguettes, Italian breads...but never close to the real German farmer's bread and other varieties, which is denser, moister, and just sublime. Pain Quotidien and Hawthorne Valley Farm at the Union Square market are the closest I've come so far. Am I missing it??? Does it exist in any borough of NYC? Tell me, and I'll go.
