Georgia Avenue Miscellany

One of the places that really deserves a Chow "Crawl" is Georgia Avenue. I was just there last night, looking to hit Rita's; but it was closed, so I had my first ever Five Guys burger and fries. Much better than I expected, given that the beef is invariably cooked medium-well. It was, however, a serious fat and grease indulgence: The small fries is enough to kill a large man; I can't even imagine the sort that could eat the large, along with a burger.

I was tempted to go to Tropicana, at 8th and U St., because I have a soft spot for the Silver Spring location. Has anyone been to the one on 8th St?

Further on up the road, in addition to Rita's, there are Teddie's Roti (very good), Auntie Libbie's for Senegalese food, and Safari DC, a pretty good Kenyan place. For years, I've been wanting to go into Wings and Things (open 24 hours, and usually with a line of folks waiting), but never have. I'll bet there are at least a few other gems on and around Georgia, too, if only we knew where to look. (And up in Silver Spring, on and around Georgia, are Tropicana, Mayorga Coffee, Crisfeild, Roger Miller, and Negril, among others.)

Please feel free to spin this thread off into subthreads on particular spots on or about Georgia, with an amendment to the subject line.
