George & Son's Seafood Market

I ran across this seafood market about two weeks ago. I was on my way to the Wawa late at night and coming back, saw the sign. I had to stop, turn around and drive up to the store. I couldn't believe it, a fresh seafood market in Hockessin. Fantastic!

Well, I stopped in yesterday and picked up some fresh salmon filets. Wow, fish was super fresh! Price was very good. In the counter they had: sushi grade tuna, salmon, swordfish, tilapia, whole bronzino, flounder, shrimp, soft shell crabs, crab cakes, clams, mussels and much more. And if they don't have it, they will get it.

I asked the son, George IV (I had never met a fourth before... lol), if it's in the sea can they acquire it? He said, "In or out of the sea, we can get it!" He mentioned that they had acquired some frog legs for a customer. Frog legs in Hockessin, who would have thought it possible?

It's a family run store. George III, has been in the business about 25+ years. He had two previous locations in the Wilmington area, but had really been looking to move to Hockessin if the opportunity arrived. Well, it arrived back in late summer of 2010. I believe they opened in August/September of that year. How I missed them, I don't know, but I found them now!

The inside is spotless, with a down-at-the-beach vibe. George IV said they will have steamed Maryland crabs when the season starts. Can't wait.

If you are looking for a very good fish monger or want to try something new, give George & Son's a visit. I've got a very good feeling about this place.
