I haven't seen anything posted about this place. We wandered in after trying some treats at Sweetery on Sunday (sort of dinner in reverse order) and really liked it.
For those who don't know it, it is a casual and clean space, like a hip cafeteria. You grab some seats, order at the counter, take number on a stand, and wait at your table for the food to arrive. Water, cutlery, napkins, and condiments are all self-serve.
From reading reviews, the pizza crust recipe has connections to Roberta's in NYC. (Unfortunately we did not try Roberta's on our recent eating tour there, so we can't make a direct comparison.) The crust is a nice combination of char, chewiness, and wheat-y aroma. The pies are a bit smaller than at QMP and Libretto, but are otherwise similar in terms of the quality of toppings and flavour combinations. The Porky Pine is a distant cousin of a Hawai'ian pizza, with yummy double-smoked bacon, pineapple, plus plenty of fresh jalapeno to kick it up. The Lamb Borghini wanders successfully off to the Middle East, mixing lamb sausage, labneh, zaatar, and mint with more traditional tomato sauce and mozzarella.
We had space for only one extra dish and were very pleased with the shredded kale salad, featuring fresh young leaves, currants, sunflower seeds, and plenty of lemon.
Drinks are pretty limited, with a decent selection of craft beers, exactly five wines, and two cocktails.
The place is very kid-friendly - we saw many youngsters. Dinner for two is about $80-90 including tax. And you can be in and out in well under an hour. We'll go again when we're in the area.
