I have a stud sandwich shop for you sub, hogie and hero fans out there. Genco is a riff on The Godfather and all of there sandwiches are named after prominent characters with the exception of my boy Hyman Roth. Hyman was a corned beef sandwich with slaw and Russian dressing. Hyman didn't sell and he too sleeps with the fishes.
Must gets - Fredo - housemade veal, pork and beef meatballs with Pecorino Romano. The meatballs were perfect and the sauce worked too, Bread is solid.
Next up Sollozzo - breaded chicken cutlet, sautéed spinach with garlic, sharp provolone plus roasted red peppers. Sick.
Prior visits I really enjoyed the Clemenza which was similar to the Sollozzo except it had broccoli rabe in lieu of spinache.
I also had the incredible Michael - ham. capicola genoa salami, sharp provolone.
This place is up there with La Spada and may be better. Head to head throw down need to go down
