"Join us on Saturday, Nov 21 at 2 PM PST for a virtual film screening and community discussion of the critically acclaimed Indigenous food documentary, Gather. @gatherfilm is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide.
We'll be joined for a special post-screening conversation with Indigenous LA activists Claudia Serrato @xicana_indigena, co-founder of @acrossourkitchentables, and Annie Mendoza @comradeannie17, director of @theaqueductbetweenus and #Tongva scholar at @UCLA, will join us for a discussion about food sovereignty and how we can support and promote Indigenous food culture in the Los Angeles region.
The film tickets are free, due to a generous donation from #BurningIssuesBookClub. If you wish to make a donation, Open Silo will be gifting the proceeds to Claudia and Annie to support their work and communities.
Learn more and RSVP on our Eventbrite page (link in bio). This event is co-hosted by Open Silo, Burning Issues Book Club, @belcantobooks, and the @lagoodfood Urban Ag Working Group. We are all women-led organizations in Los Angeles County and we love to collaborate!"
