Garlic or other seasoning in pasta water?

paizley | Jul 21, 201602:38 PM     15

Lately, I've been throwing whole garlic cloves in to the pasta water. Adds a nice flavor and those whole cooked cloves are tasty. Peppercorns and whole chiles sometimes go in also. I find the pasta has a really good flavor when the water is seasoned. I talked with an Italian friend and he says he adds garlic all the time! This works well when the pasta is going to be tossed with olive oil or butter, or being used in a salad.

Anyone else? What do you use?
