Little Garden gone "sai chan"

Gary Soup | May 15, 2005 07:49 PM

A couple of weeks ago I thought it peculiar that Little Garden on Vallejo was handing out menus on Stockton Street (not Grant Avenue) at Sacramento Street (six blocks from home) but didn't pay much attention to the piece of paper that was handed to me. Today when I walked by I noticed it was sporting a "Grand Opening" banner that didn't look 50 years old, so I checked the menu.

Sure enough, there's been a change of some sort. It's been years since I've eaten there, but my recollection is that it was formerly straight-up Cantonese. The menu has now gone wholeheartedly Hong Kong-style Western. If you're craving a pepper steak, garoupa with spaghetti, or a macaroni soup with your ham and eggs, washed down with Horlick's or Ovaltine, here's a new place to try.

Little Garden
750 Vallejo, next to the police station.
