Gamey tasting almonds?

I buy raw almonds from a seller in California. I always wash my almonds and then dry them in my electric oven for about 2 hours at !50 prior to use. I normally make almond milk, almond flour and almond butter from my almonds, but something is wrong with the last batch.

The almond butter has a "gamey" taste to it. I am not sure what the issue could be. I used a teaspoon of agave for sweetness and a tsp of salt and processed them in my food processor. I let the butter sit at room temp for about 3 hours before trying it on a few crackers. YUCK!

I have bought almonds from this seller for the past year and not had a problem. True, I have always used them quicker than I did with this last batch. I got sick right before Christmas and everything was put on hold. I took delivery of the almonds around Dec. 15 and stored them in a sealed glass jar in my fridge (unwashed).

I am at a loss and hate the thought of throwing away 5 pounds of almonds. Have you ever heard of "gamey" tasting almonds?
