Galileo RW extension report

foodie in lawyer's clothing | Aug 5, 2004 04:36 PM

Went today with a friend after checking OpenTable for what was available for lunch. Happy to find that RW had been extended. Summary: food pretty darn good, service stinks.

My friend and I were right on time for a 12:45 lunch reservation. We were seated right away, but didn't see anyone but the oil/bread guy for 15 minutes. We were finally given menus and our drink orders were taken. Didn't see anyone again for another 15 when our drinks arrived and our orders taken.

The entire lunch menu was on the RW list--pick one from each page for $20.04, the menu indicated.

On to the chow: For apps, I had the anglonotti (sp?) filled with gouey mozzerella and bits of tomato in a butter/thyme sauce. Very good, smooth and rich, yet light. My friend had the organic vegi soup. She said it needed salt, but the waiter (or busperson, or anybody else) was unable to be located, let alone flagged down. For entrees, I had the veal tourenado wrapped in prociutto and (more) mozzerella. Very tender, albeit small (3 oz?) and served atop a ratatoulli (sp?)-like mix of vegis and a tomato coulis. My friend had the Moroccan Sea Bass atop spinach, which she liked very much. Desserts were a vanilla gelato (me) and tiramisu (her). Both were fine, but not spectacular. In fact, my gelato was a little "icey" (crystals of ice throughout--not particularly creamy, but nice flavor).

So, that wraps it up. Anyone else have lousy service at Galileo?
