Galileo - Not-so-impressionable Anniversary

This is my first time posting on this board, and I rarely do post on any boards, but I felt that I needed to post about my dining experience at Galileo from last night.

It was our first wedding anniversary yesterday and my husband surprised me by taking me to dinner at Galileo. I was so excited since I had always wanted to go and had read such great reviews. Both of us being young, graduate students, we don't really have the money to be dining regularly at places like Galileo so it was a real treat for us. (Well, at least should've been.)

The service was by far, one of the worst that I've experienced. I felt like we were being neglected the whole night! Maybe it was the fact that we didn't order a bottle of wine like everyone else around us did - but neither of us drink. Maybe it was the fact that both me and my husband are in our mid-20s yet we both still look like we are in our teens. I don't know what the reasons were, but I felt horribly discriminated against. The waiter/maitre'd (?) was going around to all of the other tables smiling and chatting, yet when he finally got to ours, it was only to give us the dessert menus.

I guess I was expecting so much (since the prices are so out of our usual range) and expecting wonderful service. The food, although good, was not memorable either. For about $70 per person, I was expecting so much more!

Both of us left still hungry and feeling like we should've stuck to our usual place, like Bucca di Beppo's ;)

I just needed to get all of this off of my chest. Whew.
