WOW! What a night. 54 years of marriage and love could not have been celebrated better than our family's gathering at Galatoire's last night. I think it has spawned an annual tradition. Our family gathered, ate, drank and had some amazing times!
And the Grande Dame really could not have been a more perfect backdrop! The atmosphere was wonderful. We waited no longer than 20 minutes for our table (even though we supposedly may have to wait for an hour). The food was amazing. I had Crabmeat Sardou. Simple, elegant and God-awful good!
I think I aggravated 2 patrons behind our table, and nearly burnt down the place. After dinner, I went across the street to get some cigars for the men. As I was lighting mine in Galatoire's, my lit match broke and flew into my mother's lap, creating something of a stir! I think the carrying-on aggravated the couple behind us, but oh well!
John was our waiter and he couldn't have been more helpful.
An AMAZING night. Thanks for all the tips. Everyone should know now why Galatoire's is both the nation's outstanding restaurant, but also THE standard bearer for a city that lives to eat.
