I'm in Gaithersburg. Where do I eat? | Oct 26, 2005 01:42 AM

Hi there, east coast hounds! I'm in G'burg for a coupla weeks, back east
from San Francisco. I'm hungry.

When I was growing up here, Chris' Restaurant and Roy's Place were the
height of Fine Dining. And Tippy's Taco House was about as close to ethnic
as you could get. It's great to see things have changed over the years!
The Food of Foreign Lands and Peoples scene seems pretty darn improved.

But where to start? I've only got a short time. Checked out the recent lunch
thread, and La Flor de la Canela seems like a must-eat. At this very moment,
if I were to chuck a stone moderately hard, I could probably hit New Fortune,
so that's on the list (though the idea of eating in the old Drug Fair is a bit weird).
It was great to see that old place on 355 just south of Shady Grove has
turned Filipino. And there's Pho in Shady Grove Center!

I had a moderately not-so-good dinner at the Greek place in Kentlands tonight:
decent spanikopita, but cold and way overcooked lamb souvlaki (though the
baklava was one of the best I've ever had). What else should I be eating?
