I haven't seen this oldie on the message board, so I'd like to put in a decent word for the 1879 classic.
The prix fixe menu at something like $23.95 for appetizer, entree, and dessert isn't bad at all.
A la carte is better (and, of course, more expensive), and right now, the gravlax at $9.75 is superb.
In addition, there's the ambiance of 1879, the gas-lighting thing at about 7 pm, and a list of a few wines by the glass which at least one waiter will add to with a half-bottle of good California Chardonnay.
We did a rehearsal dinner for our son and his bride there, for maybe 30 people, and it was very good indeed.
Go ahead and try this oldie.
