So a couple of years ago that fish ball store/restaurant with various names on Garvey on Monterey Park burned down and it took them forever to reopen. When they reopened a giant Grand Opening sign obscured the restaurant's name for almost a year before that banner was removed and we discovered that it's new name was Fu Yuan Chinese Food. But now the door is boarded up again, the premises have been closed by the city, and there are what could be singe marks around the windows. Anybody know what happened?
The significance goes beyond the mystery of what happened to its premises, since this apparently leaves us again with only one Fujianese restaurant in Los Angeles, Foo Chow in Chinatown. Fu Yuan's sister restaurant in Rowland Heights, the artfully named Fuzhou C.C. Manual Fish Ball has shut down. So this seems to leave the SGV without Fujianese food, and our favorite supply of Fuzhou fish balls gone.
