Funny tasting fish

Tonight I sauteed some lovely fresh flounder I bought from the farmer's market. The thicker parts of the fish had a chemical taste to them. I cannot figure out what it is and have noticed it once in a while in thinner fish. My daughter was gobbling up the fish so obviously didn't notice an "off" taste. I'm afraid we may have eaten something harmful! Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks.
