A Fun Dessert Near Columbia...

Johnlw | Aug 19, 2002 07:03 AM

We went out to dinner with the neighbors Saturday night, with a total of four kids. Afterwards, we decided to try the Italian Ice stand on Route 1, just north of Route 32. What a nice surprise!

A couple who claims that their family recipe is several generations old runs it. I believe them. They offer two types of Italian Ice, New Jersey and New York styles. The N.J. is lighter and flavorful. The N.Y. style is richer with pieces of fruit in it. Between us we tried both styles, Honeydew, chocolate and vanilla (the kids), strawberry, mint, and cherry. There are picnic tables and classical music.

If you have kids, or a sweet tooth, and are in the area, it is a fun stop for dessert.
