Tuesday we walked through Pere Lachaise. The maps were useless, but an enterprising Frenchman lead us to graves of over 50 famous people. As we speak no French, he sang and pantomimed to explain the importance of the less than famous. Very interesting. However, the omnipresence of cawing ravens was unnerving.
At noon we walked over to Fulgurances for an excellent meal. Our granddaughter had no idea food could be so good. The elders were stunned by the fusion of the flavors and quality of the meals. The du jour was Raw Bonito with cucumber or a buttery black rice based risotto with mozzarella/ an Asian fusion of katsu (breaded) pork with a sweet and acidic sauce that cut through the fat of the pork perfectly or a poached white fish (similar to tuna)/ rubarb with fromage blanc or a tarte banane topped with a coconut sorbet. Several were of the opinion that this was the finest meal they had ever eaten. (Granddaughter helped with this description).
