Quite a bit better than it has to be given its prime location at the end of the pier, comfy outdoor seating and classic Brooklyn Bridge views. The room is way more attractive than anything at the old Pier 17, full of light, with two levels of varied seating arrangements, nooks and crannies, raw bar and open kitchen.

Some of the food is on the level of JG's ABC empire, with an excellent seafood stew (nothing overdone or mushy) and fritto misto salad. Perhaps the kitchen gets bored with pedestrian items like fish and chips (too much breading) and burgers (indistinct meat and cheese). Asparagus and tuna tartare apps did not distract from the view.

Bottom line: you won't want to fling yourself into the East River if you have to be on Pier 17 for a concert or in your capacity as tour guide for the in-laws.
