I did stop at Full Kee in Virginia for lunch today....and was greeted warmly by one of the waitresses who used to work at the Chinatown branch.
It was very instructive how different the various dishes were prepared.
The Hong Kong style wontons were terrific....packed with shrimp and wrapped with tender wonton skins. The broth was slightly less peppery than usually served downtown.
Leek flowers (leed flowers ?) were very good but slightly less seasoned than I am accustomed to from the H Street branch.....
The biggest surprise was the soft shelled crabs. The frying was completely different than downtown--a softer, puffier batter--and the crabs were nowhere near as meaty; in addition, the portion was much smaller.
My eating companion pronounced them fine but I was less enthusiastic.
The restaurant is very attractive--spacious and light--and they do take credit cards and serve alcohol.
