Fukuoka Hitsumabushi Rec

Was in Fukuoka again recently and hit a place that i've enjoyed in the past there. I may have mentioned it before on here, but without the name. On the this trip, it was as delicious as ever, and i learned a) the name, and b) that is, in fact, quite old&famous in Hakata (i'd discovered it purely by chance last January while wandering around hungry)...

it's called Yanagawa-ya, and it's on Nakasu, on the east side the island, in the middle (specifically on the north side of the street on one of the east-west streets -- most locals seem to know it, and Nakasu is small enough that it should be findable w/ a few questions)...it's a small place w/ stone floors and the hitsumabushi is served Hakata-style, w/ a little mentaiko to mix in...superb fresh eel...a lot of character...highly recommended...
