I'll be visiting my mom for a week starting Wed. March 18. She lives off Fiddlesticks south of Daniels Pkwy west of 75 and east of 41. We usually drive down to Bonita Springs and even Naples once or twice, but recommendations in the South Ft. Myers area would be most appreciated.
For those who haven't already grown tired of my favorites in the area and region:
I really like Wyld's Cafe on Bonita Springs -- surprisingly good ambience and service and very strong food -- try the duck and mushroom napoleon as a starter and their wonderful meatloaf and gravy.
We don't have Bonefish Grill yet out here and I think they do a spectacular job. High levels of training so good service and consistent execution -- I like their corn and crab bisque and the char-grilled salmon with the garlic butter sauce. Never refuse a taste if someone gets the bang-bang shrimp.
Sasse's, an Italian wood fired grill place in a strip mall on Evans has gone through a couple of owners and no longer has the gargantuan portions of old, but still serves wonderful braised shanks and some of the best eggplant parm I've ever had.
Grouper and Chips on 41 down near Naples is a great hole-in-the-wall for casual fried grouper.
I've had multiple dinners at A Table Apart (just west of Wyld's on Bonita Springs, big rack of lamb and nice pork chop), Bistro 41 (loved their meatloaf years ago), a bbq place very casual north and east in Ft. Myers whose name I need to look up), Roy's for their prix fixe special, Cafe Lurcat for their early special in Naples. And kudos to the clubhouse at Olde Hickory -- food and service is very good, from a big burger or fried grouper sandwich after golf to their seafood buffet some Fridays.
I have downloaded Jean le Boeuf's list of 52 places to eat around Ft. Myers.
