I'm coming to Ft. Lauderdale (from NY) for a couple of days to visit my vacationing brother (who lives abroad). Neither of us has much clue about the dining scene down there; his first forays into the area's culinary depths proved disappointing. I've looked at past posts on this site to get some clues, but I feel that something is missing. So, if anyone can provide a quick primer, I'd be most appreciative. Any suggestions are welcome, but I am most curious if there is a good place for stone crabs (I've heard of Joe's - but reports seem mixed), Cuban or other Caribbean foods, and, a place that has a good, interesting wine list. Other cuisines are fully appreciated as well, though I have a preference for things that might be done better in South Florida than other parts of the country. Oh yes, and the requisite good French and Italian places, too.
