yesterday i was back in my hometown of bethesda, maryland and hopped over to the kohr brothers' there (by the united artists, for you locals), only to find that it was gone. as you can imagine this was a terrible disappointment, and occasioned much weeping, etc. (only today, back in nyc, did i think to check on their webpage, and found that there were actually several other outposts i could have visited -- if i had only known!)
but, unsated cravings rankle -- as i'm sure you all know. i've searched the board, and found reference to a frozen custard place in the world financial center. i've seen it there before -- but i recall the custard being hard-packed, and not soft-serve like at kohr brothers. is my memory serving me correctly?
is there any place in manhattan (or, really, new york city, doesn't have to be manhattan) to get soft serve frozen custard?
ALSO -- and maybe i'll post this as another query -- i've heard about an old italian ice place in brooklyn -- only open seasonally -- that is mind-blowing. creamy textured italian ice in a rainbow of possible flavors. i think it's in east williamsburg?
any of you know what i'm talking about?
as you can see, i like my frozen treats.
