In 3 weeks, I'll be delivering a cake to someone who purchased it at a charity auction. The buyer/birthday girl asked for chocolate. I'm testing various cake recipes but essentially I think it will be a variation on the Hershey cocoa cake - moist, not too dense. However, I generally serve such cake with a simple dusting of powdered sugar and my experience with frosting is limited. So what do you all suggest? Chocolate? White? Flour based? Butter? Cream cheese?
I will be delivering the cake after work on a weeknight (Tues) so prefer something somewhat sturdy that I can make the night before (Mon), frost the next evening, then deliver for consumption on Wednesday. Also, it will be hot here in mid-June.
