frites, little italy pizza and more . . .

in case anybody missed it, there was a small article on
page 2 of yesterday's Times Dining Section about places
to go for belgian frites, so i guess that answers my
earlier question . . .

in other news, checked out little italy pizza yesterday
(46th and Vanderbilt) since it's supposed to have
excellent pizza. i have to say i didn't think it was
anything special. it's decent pizza, and the crust is
thicker and chewier than most, but no big deal. for a
good ol' new york slice in the same area there's a
little spot on 41st and lex called La Belleza, nothing
fancy, but throw a little garlic powder on top and
you're good to go. they also make a solid chicken parm
hero that's not messy and is baked in the oven. 1.50 a
slice and 4.50 for the hero. very reasonable.

probably checking out mercer kitchen or zoe on monday
and ruby foo's on sunday. anybody got opinions on
those places?
