I ate at Frisson tonight with 4 other people... we had 6 apps, 5 entrees, some wine..
they were 15 minutes late seating us for our reservation. when we were sat the sommelier came and gave us a free bottle of champagne. very cool. for apps we had the foie gras, shabu-shabu, tuna tartare, steak tartare, soup, and mixed green salad. the tuna tartare is probably one of the best dishes in san fran. even with every restaurant in the universe offering their own rendition of this dish, frisson just straight up did it right. comes with a cucumber sorbet, a chili sauce, and the best use of a salt garnish ive seen. the other apps were all good, foie gras pbj was as good as ive had it anywhere.
in between they served us all (for free again) an individual pork trotter app... something i honestly would never have ordered myself but once again the chefs apps blew me away.
entrees werent quite as spectacular as the apps but the squab and ravioli were exceptional, the rib-eye was cooked beautifully but im totally tired of beans of any sort with my steaks, be they white bean or otherwise.
the souffle for dessert was wonderful but more like a dense flourless chocolate cake. it came with the most inventive dessert ive seen in months... an iced milk with homemade cereal dusted in white chocolate. oh my god please give this to me every morning for the rest of my life.
the sommelier was very helpful with wine, waitress very knowledgable about the items. service was great if you arent ridiculously picky.
