In anticipation of another round of Covid restriction to hit the York region, I decided to take advantage of what limited time is left and have another dine-out meal.

The fact that we chose to eat at this ' Thornhill Culinary Jewel ' again, our second visit within the past week, is enough to attest for the overall excellence and deliciousness of their food.

For our meal, we were introduced to a revised menu featuring some new and interesting addition. It is quite amazing how, for each of our return visits, we tend to notice how Chef/owner John-Vincent and his team managed to elevate their game and take things up to another exciting level! I am starting to find myself depleting of 'words of praise' from my vocabulary to use in my meal review!

In addition to re-ordering a few of the previously savored, mouth watering dishes like the char-grilled Maitaki mushroom, the Smoked BC Tuna and the Char-grilled crispy duck breast.....etc, we also tried out some new addition to the menu repertoire. These included the Beef Tongue and the Wild East Coast Halibut dishes as well as a Melon and Sweet Rice dessert.

For a beef tongue lover like myself, that tender piece of smoked braised beef tongue with onion, anchovies dip and shaved Hazel nut topping was a dish made in heaven. It was so damn good, I had a silent food orgasm!! Even my wife, who dislike offal, said she really enjoyed the tasty piece that she tried!

Due to Frilu's seafood supplier mishandling the delivery time, we missed out on the Halibut dish during our previous visit. We were delighted to see it still appears on the menu and as such, we have no hesitation in ordering it this time. The thick piece of pristine fresh fish was perfectly cooked. The flaky, juicy and moist interior was wrapped by a welcoming crispy slightly charred exterior. Sadly, the perfection was slightly marred by the over-powering and salty, plum and miso sauce. Still, this dish was enjoyable and the cooking commendable.

The unique melon dessert was refreshing, delicate and possessed just the right amount of sweetness. A perfect ending to a near 99% perfect meal!

BTW, this time, additional complimentary sour-dough bread was provided to help us mop up those delicious sauces!

The slow-wood-fire roasted Cod of Pearl Morissette and tonight's smoked braised Beef Tongue dish of Frilu, IMHO, two, Michelin star worthy dishes. Two 'wow' dishes in the span of a week! Man! I am so blessed!

Lastly, a big THANK YOU and SINCERE GRATITUDE to all the wonderful chefs who still managed to cook-up amazing and delicious food for us foodies during this trying time!!

Take Care, Stay Safe and Keep Up the Great Work!! :D
