For at least ten years, I've been complaining, both here and by e-mail to Five Guys that their small order of French fries is big enough for three normal eaters (or one 16 year old). I've had moderate success re-heating the leftovers in an oven, but I've never been able to successfully seal them up, even with aluminum foil and double fresh bags, so that the inside of my car doesn't smell like a fry kitchen for a week after even a short run home with the left over fries.
When I was getting my monthly dose of Five Guys yesterday and went through the usual exchange with the cashier:
"Do you want any fries?"
"No, thanks, a small order is much too large for me to eat. When you offer a smaller size, I'll take it."
She pointed to the menu board and told me that they just added a "Little" order of fries. So they finally listened to me (and probably others who are at least a little health and budget conscious).
The Little Fries is still too big, easily enough for two, though at $2.39, it's a step in the right direction. I ate enough so that I wasn't tempted to take the leftovers home. ;)
I'm still dreaming of the "courtesy order of fries," maybe a dozen to 20 sticks for a buck, but I suppose I should be thankful for larger small favors.
