friendly challenge

So a good friend of mine recently informed me that they don't like chinese food b/c of the 'cheap cuts of meat' that they use. I was rather insulted by this and insisted that we should have dinner some time to prove that this isn't always the case. I'm half chinese and am looking for a place that's a little bit upscale (but won't break the bank)but that would still serve the dishes that I typically eat w/ the fam (whole steamed fish, clams w/ black bean sauce, chinese broccoli, etc). I don't speak chinese and I usually eat at more budget minded places. People have suggested R&G lounge, Mayflower, or Ton Kiang. Any strong feelings or other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
