Friendly 18, 8750 Jane Street, Concord - Treated to some of the most awesome tasting and may be even the most authentic, Vietnamese food in the GTA!

When one is greeted by friendly staffs who speak only Vietnamese to each other and communicate with the patrons in barely passable English, then chances are, the food will be quite authentic and one should be in for a real culinary treat! Well, our uber-delicious luncheon today was indeed most enjoyable and met all criteria for a genuine, delightful, Vietnamese feast!

Located in an area dominated by house renovation and building material suppliers. This fair size restaurant, tucked away in some out of the way commercial strip plaza, was surprisingly busy during lunch hour! Our party of seven allowed us to order and try out a whole slew of different dishes....including the famed Vietnamese specialty - Beef prepared 7 ways!

Dishes we ordered include:

- Cha Muc Chien: Deep fied breaded Squid
- Bun Bo Hue: Spicy "Hue" vermicelli in soup
- Bun Cha Ca Dac Biet: Special Vietnamese style fish paste in rice noodle soup
- 3 different Pho with a mix of rare beef, well-done beef and tendon briskets
- Bo 7 Mon: Vietnamese 7 course beef

The meal can be summarized by a few choice and commendable words like: Impressive, awesome, delicious and fun!

From the huge variety of herbs and aromatics provided for the condiments ( Betel leaves, Saw Tooth leaves, shredded banana leaves, Mint, Thai Basil....), to the large quantity and size of the dishes, to the amazingly tasty and exotic broth....especially the one used for the Bun Bo Hue and finally, to the fun, do-it-yourself rice paper wrap. Every component experienced was a delight!

I have had my fair share of supposedly good Vietnamese food/Pho in the GTA, These include the popular and fan favorite: Pho Tai Bac, Little Saigon, Pho Metro, Q1-Le Pho, The Pho Restaurant, Nam, Pho Tien Thanh, Pho Hung, Pho Ling....etc. However, after today's meal, this 'Hidden Gem' in Vaughan has instantly become my FAVORITE go-to Vietnamese place!

Please give it a try, especially if by chance in the area. You will not be disappointed!
