If you like fried perch, head to JKWB...

Just got back from a quick bite at JKWB- ordered the beer battered perch, the pickerel, braised lamb poutine, and the summer vegetable salad.

The perch was perfect- crisp batter, very fresh- and I loved the slaw that was served with it. I even liked JKWB's take on tartar sauce (contained dill- just in case anyone reading this doesn't like dill)- and I almost never like tartar sauce. 1 filet of perch is served on each small plate (around 3 oz of fish), so if you're planning to share, I'd recommend ordering at least a couple orders for the table.

The pickerel was cooked perfectly, topped with an mixture of herbs, and it came with green beans. Nice balance of flavours.

The frites in the poutine were great as usual- wasn't as fond of the braised lamb topping the frites, as I was of other versions of poutine at JKWB.

Summer vegetable salad was like a simplified nicoise minus the tuna and tomato- it contained potato, egg, beet, stringbeans, arugula, carrot and nicoise olives.

I was a happy camper. Almost all the tables were full when I got there close to 9:30 p.m. on the Friday night of a holiday weekend.

I hope to head back for some more battered perch sometime soon.
