Yay -- it's picnic season!
I've often read or heard that fried chicken is a typical picnic food -- but this has always puzzled me. I love fried chicken, but I think it's one of those foods that should be eaten immediately after cooking (like almost all fried foods). Is fried chicken at picnics some Americana folklore of days gone by, replaced by more picnic-friendly cooking trends? Or is there such a thing as fried chicken that will be tasty hours later? If so, please share your very best picnic-friendly fried chicken recipes and techniques -- we're having a picnic under the stars this weekend. It's not so much the temperature I'm worried about, but rather the rubbery skin and stale breading/batter I want to avoid. Thanks!
