Last week I pulled into A&W Root Beer off Hwy 101 in San Rafael for a pitstop. Inside I saw the posters promoting fried cheese curds . . . I had no idea these were available here! They're made with white cheddar curd from Wisconsin.

Fried to order, I had a little bit of a wait for my size small order, $4.09. Served up hot and fresh, the thin and near greaseless crust was nice and crisp. Though not gooey, the melted cheese interior was soft and stringy. The fried curds were very salty as well as filling, and I was wishing I had an eating partner to help me devour them at their peak enjoyment.
