Two months ago while cruising down Santa Rosa’s Taco Truck row, the sight of Worth Our Weight’s mobile food cart in front of Texas Furniture (1290 Sebastopol Rd) was reason enough to flip a “U”. Used to seeing the red cart that local celebrity, Guy Fieri, donated to the culinary apprenticeship program at the downtown farmers market or special events, this was the first time I’d spied it on a public thoroughfare.
Meatball sandwiches were the order of the day, every Friday apparently from noon until early afternoon. $6 each with profits donated to WOW. I’d already had lunch and said I’d return another day. Then the man gave me one to thank me for stopping, saying he know I’d come back after trying it.
I took the sandwich to my next stop and shared it with a friend. Five meatballs bathed in vibrant tomato sauce were medium-firm and quite meaty, not the soft bready style. Melted provolone and a nice nuttiness from real Parmigiano-Reggiano rounded out the taste.
Yep, I need to return.
